Mr. Shahid Khan recently joined Al-Shafi pharmaceutical company as a CEO. The company is facing many serious crises but one of the most hazardous is the conflict between production and marketing departments. Both the departments are blaming each other for declining sales. In first meeting with Mr. Shahid Khan , the production manager complaints about the erroneous forecasting of demand where as the marketing manager complaints about the unnecessary delay in supply of demanded medicines. Mr. Shahid Khan has to resolve the conflict between production manager and marketing manager as it is causing serious financial losses.

 

Q. What are the ways Mr. Shahid can use to resolve the conflict between production manager and marketing manager?

 

 

Answer:

 

As CEO he has legitimate power over both managers .Here in the above scenario both parties involved CEO as third person rather than dealing directly so Conflict triangle is established. Interpersonal conflict b/w manager is dysfunctional can increase clashes.

Now being CEO he has to :

Maintain open communication b/w both managers.

He will adopt collaborating conflict  management style. Both managers are to compromise. In this way situation will result in win-win conflict.

Result:

After having thorough and open discussion in a meeting with Both managers CEO ll arrive at a solution agreeable to both.
