::::|| VU ||:::: Story 17: Former Bad Boy goes Good Boy:-

Former Bad Boy rapper Loon, born Chaun...cey Lamont Hawkins, has left hip-hop to strengthen his faith in religion after a conversion to Islam.

Loon was an original member of the Mase lead group Harlem World and through the group he was introduced to the world. After leaving the group, he signed with Bad Boy records as a solo artist in 2001 after rhyming on the mixtape scene for a while.

The Harlem native was viewed by some as a replacement for fellow Harlem rapper Mase who had just left Bad Boy to become a preacher the previous year. His self titled debut album was released in 2003 and reached #6 on the Billboard charts. Two singles from the album were released How You Want That, and Down For Me but the album failed to reach gold status. Loon's biggest success during his years at Bad Boy came from appearing on Diddy's songs including I Need A Girl from the platinum album We Invented The Remix which also featured Usher. Loon soon left Bad Boy records and released 3 independent albums 2006's No Friends, and Wizard Of Harlem and in 2007 Loon and former Bad Boy artist G. Dep released an joint album called bad Boy, which was a reference to the time both artist spent on the label.

While on a tour in Dubai in 2008, Loon converted to Islam and changed his name to Amir Junaid Muhadith. He has since stated he has no desire to rap anymore but he does want to change the message in the music. Amir also says he has plans to perform spoken word in the near future.
