Position:Senior Test Analyst

Duration:12 + MONTHS

Strategic Planning
Performing IV on the output of an Agile development team, the Senior Test Analyst is responsible for developing and continually refining the test strategy, plans, processes, and standards, covering functional and non]functional testing.

Given this, the Senior Test Analyst will:
Document and implement test strategies, plans, processes and standards on the conduct of IV and UAT.
Create and maintain configuration notes for the testing environments.
Receive input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately apply comments/feedback.

Independent Verification (IV)
The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for planning and performing independent verification (functional and non-functional testing), this will include:
Elicit subject matter expert expectations on the behavior of the system.
Review the requirements and designs and ensure their correctness, accuracy, clarity and completeness by actively engaging Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, and Developers.
Raise and monitor requirements ambiguities.
Assist business analysts to clarify requirements ambiguities.
Develop and maintain manual tests independent of the tests developed by the vendor.
Establish and maintain traceability between test cases and requirements/design documents.
Collaborate with the vendor to ensure the test environment is available and fully operational on determined dates
Generate test data.
Verify the systems conformance to defined user stories, functional requirements.
Perform non]functional testing covering usability and documentation.
Utilize HPQC for raising defects.
Utilize Microsoft Project and Microsoft Sharepoint for documenting all outcomes, for reporting progress to management, and for collaborating with team members.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for planning and delivering User Acceptance Testing, this will include:
Define the scope and schedule of User Acceptance test phases.
Identify and confirm participants.
Reserve resources for conducting the sessions. Schedule sessions.
Prepare material for and lead user acceptance test sessions.
Investigate test outcome and raise requirements ambiguities and defects using established processes.
Utilize Microsoft Project and Microsoft Sharepoint for documenting all outcomes, for reporting progress to management, and for collaborating with team members.

Defect Management
The Senior Test Analyst will follow and enforce the currently established defect management processes using a collaborative defect tracking tool (HPQC). On a day]to]day basis the Senior Test Analyst will identify, report, and prioritize defects, working with the Business Analysts, and coordinate with Developers to locate and assist in identifying and resolving software defects.
Process Improvements
The Senior Test Analyst is expected to provide advice to the Project Manager on how processes and procedures may be improved to promote excellence in quality assurance and control.
Development Process & Team Activities
The SESIS Development Team utilizes an Agile development process based on Scrum. The Senior Test Analyst is expected to be knowledgeable in the implementation of Agile principles and be prepared to work with the DOE and vendor team leads to adapt the core Agile approaches as required to meet quality objectives.


Successful candidates should have:
IT related Bachelors degree.
5 years experience in software testing with 2 years as a Lead/Senior Test Analyst.
Thorough knowledge of the principles of functional and non]functional testing (usability, documentation).
Experience in creating test frameworks and strategy, choosing automated testing tools, creating testing standards, and creating test plans.
Hands-on testing experience in leading (or participating in a senior role) in User Acceptance Testing preparation and delivery.
Hands]on system testing experience, both manual and automated, both functional and non-functional testing.
Experience with working with at least one requirements management/test management tool.
Experience in logging and tracking defects from open to close, using issue tracking tools.
Familiarity with the principles of detailed business, functional and technical requirements development for large-scale technology products and systems implementations.
Familiarity with the principles of (UML) Use Case development and/or user story development as used in Agile software development.
Experience with Agile software development.
High level analytical and problem solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate complex issues and make informed decisions about them when written guidelines are not necessarily available.
Ability to communicate effectively and confidently, both orally and in writing, especially on technical issues.
Proficient in Microsoft Project.
Attentive to detail, extremely well-organized, able to work under pressure and meet frequent and changing deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in understanding complex large scale systems in a short period of time and developing/running test cases for such systems.
Training experience is desired (delivery of content to a large audience).
