Loving this worldly life hinders man from doing righteous deeds, which are the only things that will avail him in the Hereafter. The more one indulges in loving the worldly life, the more he refrains from doing righteous deeds.
Loving this world will turn it to be a man's biggest concern, that blinds him from remembering the truth that it's nothing but a transitional phase to the real eternity.
Only men of unsound mind could adore and prefer this world to the Hereafter. By doing so, they prefer myth to truth and temporal shade to the eternal joy. For, one way or another, all we get in this life is our predetermined share that was written before the creation of the universe.
